Some tried as much as possible to hide their tears, but even then, their tears refused to hide as it lurked stubbornly somewhere in their eyes, drops spilling on their shoulders, tears lurking somewhere in their carriage and somewhere in their countenance, as they walked into the church and then to the burial ground after the funeral service on Wednesday at Ikenne in Ogun state where the body of the Late Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Barrister Olusegun John Odubela was laid to rest after 55 years on earth.
Late Barrister Olusegun John Odubela came, saw and conquered! Earlier in the day, the town warmed up to receive the dignitaries that later showed up at the Methodist Church in his home town Ikenne, where the Archbishop, Most Rev. Atanda Adewale took the sermon.
A former Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Ogun State, Late Odubela's burial was witnessed by Senator Ibikunle Amosun who was governor of Ogun state, when the Late Odubela was commissioner there.
Other dignitaries who also were at Ikenne, included the incumbent Governor of Edo state Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu.
Many illustrious sons and daughters of Ikenne joined the family and other dignitaries from the legal profession and other walks of life to honour the Late Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and paid their last respect, to a great man that was known for many good things and many good deeds.
