Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong has allayed fears on the timely completion of ongoing projects in the state.
The Commissioner disclosed this to newsmen recently in Uyo while speaking on the commitment of Governor Udom Emmanuel in ensuring the Completion of all ongoing projects by his administration and in the provision of enduring infrastructure to the people.
Comrade Ini Ememobong who was reacting to minor setbacks occasioned by unfavourable weather conditions and concerns raised by members of the public that the government may not likely complete the Ibom airport road, ring road 3 and other giant infrastructure ongoing, assured of timely completion of all the projects.
He pointed out that the ongoing construction of side drains along the Airport Road and the construction of the Ring Road 3 were laudable initiatives by the Udom Emmanuel's administration to ease traffic flow from the Victor Attack International Airport to the Central Business District of Uyo.
While noting the benefits of the new ring road to the people and its commercial importance, Comrd. Ememobong stated that when completed, the road would linkup other crucial economic centers in the state as well as serve as a detour to the Ibom Hotels & Golf Resort which he said plays major tourism roles in the state.
While appreciating Governor Emmanuel for approving the construction of a new terminal building at the Victor Attach International Airport, the Commissioner added that the move was geared towards repositioning the state as an industrial haven and Nigeria's number one tourism destination.
The Info Boss explained that torrential rainfall has been one of the major setbacks suffered by construction companies handling various projects in the state, especially projects involving the movement of earth and soil excavation. However, he assured that once the rains begins to rescind, government would intensify pressure on the constructors handling the affected projects in order to actualize their timely completion.
The state Spokesman said that the reason why the state government was embarking on the construction of side drains along the airport road is because the road was built without proper drainage system, thus posing serious threats to it's lifespan and the livelihood of residents in the area. He further added that with the infrastructural expansion and increased in human and vehicular activities, it was important for government to be proactive in dealing with the challenges in order to prevent deterioration.
The Information helmsman said that the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel was committed to the development of quality infrastructures and human capacity building. He also advised the benefitting communities to reciprocate government's good gestures by being peaceful and law abiding.
Ememobong while appreciating the Governor for his people oriented policies, called on the citizens to render more support to the Udom-led administration.
