Chief Kenny Martins, Sultan, CAN President Ayokunle, Others, Call for National Day of Prayer


Top Nigerians under different aegis have met and called for a National Day of Prayer over the pandemic called Covid-19 that has ravaged nations and killed thousands across the world among other things.


‘The Grand Patron of Legacy Initiative International’ Chief Kenny Martins, who is also a top politician, rolled out the initiative that co-opted His Eminence Alhaji Mohammadu Sa’ad Abubakar 111, the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Leader of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) as well as Rev (Dr) Supo Ayokunle, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), traditional authorities including His Royal Majesty , Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, the Ooni of Ife and his colleagues from other parts of the country, on the need to have a National Day of Prayers.

“The support for this initiative has been overwhelming,” says Chief Kenny Martins, whose father was one of the foremost evangelists in Nigeria after Independence in 1960. “We deem it right to help in the mobilization of all Nigerians, home and in Diaspora, irrespective of their religious beliefs and practice, to observe Monday the 6th April 2020 as a National Day of Prayer,” he added.

According to him, the special day is for people to pray and give Glory to God for His mercy and continuous protection for the world. He touched on the need to also pray for our nation, leaders, families, and for our means of livelihood in this very difficult and perilous times, and also to continue to maintain the recommended stay at home order and social distancing.

In addition, he called on all members of ‘Legacy’ and all people of goodwill, to assist in the mobilization of Nigerians and lovers of Nigeria wherever they are, to join in the National Day of Prayer, for divine healing for all the sick people all over the world.
