The Camp In Kamp Afrika

Kamp Afrika is a Pan African summer camp designed for tweens and Teens (10-16years), which aims to expose children to African culture. It helps to awaken their potentials, passion and values through adventure, recreation, crafts, storytelling, arts and theatre in a fun filled manner.

A creation of Tourism Icon Otunba Wanle Akinboboye, Kamp Afrika is an Africa centric educational project for the pupils of African descent living on the continent of Africa and in the Diasporas, as well as for those who are lovers of Africa.

Once a child particpates in a camp, there's an opportunity to meet peers with similar interests and talents. An opportunity to share love of knowledge in an environment that values creativity and intelligence while having lots of fun making new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.

The Camp environment is the vast 65 acres La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort located at Ibeju-lekki, in Lagos. Nature lovers’ paradise! Africa's  themed Forest, River and Beach Resort located in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos, Nigeria, with numerous swimming pools, play opportunities, land and water sports, and so much to do and learn at a Kamp Afrika programme.

According to Tourism Icon, Otunba Wanle Akinboboye:

“The influence of the West has affected us gravely and our young people are totally disconnected from their culture, while todays parents are not helping matters much either, as they are not making enough concerted effort on their part to inculcate the African culture in their children. Kamp Afrika is our effort to train our children, in a lifestyle and fun manner about African cultures, about our cultures. During the various camps, which is now happening on a daily basis in different of our eco tourism environments, the children can connect with nature, local African animals like goats, sheep, chicken, foul, soft animals and they are also taught African dressing, African food preparation, African history, African dances, Basket making, Beads making, different types of African percussions, Tie and dye, Basket weaving, Craft making, African languages, Story telling; amidst all of these, there are other different recreational lifestyle activities like swimming, water aerobics, beach football, 5 aside beach football, volleyball, Aim the bucket and so on."

The available duration of Kamp Afrika programmes are: A Day Camp, 2 – Day Camp, One Week Camp or 2 Weeks Camp.

Apart from La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, other Kamp Afrika locations are: La Campagne Tropicana Forest, Hills And Cave Resort, Ondo; La Campagne Mountain And River Resort, Koton Karfi; La Campagne Tropicana Hot Spring Resort, Ethiopia; Destination Quidah; Destination Akosombo; Destination Grandbassam; Destination Goree Island; Destination Al Nejashi, and in the Carribeans.

Kamp Afrika builds team spirit, self-esteem, creative expressions, skill building, peer relationships, independence, social comfort, exploration, leadership, physical activities and true participation in a community environment.

Kamp Afrika also partners tourism organisations, who could be interested in franchise. Youth Tourism Entrepreneurs too, who are interested in going to schools and clubs to enrol students to participate in Kamp Afrika.
