... As MPM Inaugurates Steering Committee

Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, alongside other leaders of Uruan Local Government Area, has made case for the sustenance of peace in the area.
Bassey and the Uruan leaders made their stance known on Friday, September 10, 2021 when the Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) train landed the area ahead of the inauguration of the Local Government Steering Committee at Council Hall in Idu Uruan.
Speaker Bassey who now doubles as the Coordinator of MPM, Uruan Chapter, likened the movement as the church in the book of Revelation where members who identified with it experienced some heavenly prosperity and gains.
He noted that the people of Uruan who are already known for their peaceful disposition have embraced and keyed into the vision of MPM and will in their collective capacity ensure that peace is not only worded but in action.
Also speaking, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, Chairman MPM noted that peace is a costly project worth celebrating and the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration for the past six years have lived up to that mantra.
He said, ''among all the achievements of the governor, we have chosen to celebrate one that stands out, which is peace.
We must ensure that even after Governor Udom Emmanuel, peace must not be allow to elude the state. For more than six years, Akwa Ibom has enjoyed peace and like it is said, when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice.''
On his part, Council Chairman, Hon (Surv) Iniobong Ekpenyong vowed that his people will continue to project and key into the peace drive of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The inaugurated Steering Committee members are: Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey, Coordinator, Mr. Okon Okon, Prince Godwin Ntukude, Arch. Bishop Cletus Bassey, Hon (Surv) Iniobong Ekpenyong, Deaconess Meme Akpabio amongst others.
