The ‘Computer Village and Communications Technology (ICT)’ Investment Summit’ initially scheduled for 26th and 27th August in London has been delayed until the 14th and 15th of October 2021.
The announcement of this delay was made at an online meeting of the organisation by the founder of the Nigerian Diaspora Direct Investment Summit (NDDIS) in London.
According to Otunba Bimbo Roberts Folayan, postponing the event date was inevitable to allow more time for Nigerian delegates to prepare and comply with current UK Covid-19 rules concerning Amber countries, which require them to isolate in the place they are staying for 10 days on arrival.
According to him, delegates from the US and Europe – important target groups for the NDDIS event - are exempted from isolation as long as they are fully vaccinated.
The NDDIS has advised delegates to prepare for isolation on arrival in the UK and equally advised them to ensure they get full vaccination before travelling in October as the rules are reviewed from week to week which means they might also be taken off the isolation list. At the meeting Youth Ambassador, Yemi Soile was appointed the NDDIS Covid-19 subject matter.According to the organisers, all other timings and programme of the event remain the same. The location of the event remains the same. (Holiday Inn, Kensington High Street, London).
Also speaking at the meeting, Mr David Smith, Chairman of the Steering Committee of NDDIS said, ‘as soon as travel and interaction are allowed, building bridges between the UK and Nigerian ICT Industries is important. The Summit will also be an inspiration to our colleagues in the Nigerian community in UK to look at the opportunities they have to positively influence economic growth in both countries’.
