Sallah celebration: Ikoyi residents lament; abandoned by EKEDC

It has been little or no Sallah celebrations for residents in highbrow Ikoyi area, Lagos, who have been denied electricity for days by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

"We have been here for days, no light, no response from EKEDC. The SMD doesn't answer his calls any more, we are suffering from carbon monoxide toxic fumes emitting from different generating sets, please can EKEDC be reached out to?" Asked a resident who lives around George street, Ikoyi.

"The management of EKEDC should please respond and rescue us," another resident in the area cried out more.

A middle age female resident in the area furthermore lamented that she had spoken to their boss at EKEDC, but with no result. She said she was forced to send him a message:

"We have been without electricity here, without an explanation as what is going on despite several calls. I am at a loss. All efforts to reach you have proved abortive, I have called and no response, I even suggested backfeeding when I did get to speak with you yesterday as you said that the fault was a major one. Please in God's name can you save us from the consistent inhaling of carbon monoxide for days on end. I do hope that you will respond to my calls as this is now an emergency situation."
