SPFL Developers FZE unveiling the first project under SPFL Gas & Petrochemicals Free Zone

... a sub zone of Liberty Free Trade Zone




The Federal Government’s National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP) received a great boost today Wednesday 26th May 2021, with the Foundation Stone laying ceremony by His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and His Excellency Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, for The GIWA Gas FZE which is coming up in SPFL Gas & Petrochemicals Free Zone, within Eastern Obolo, Akwa Ibom state. 




According to the Group  Managing Director of  Giwa Gas, Mr. Tony Chukuwke who said  This project will help boost the economy of the State as well as that of the Nation. While also significantly reducing the harmful effects on the environment done by flaring of gas. It will open a gateway of opportunities in the Oil and Gas Industry, by significantly unlocking volumes of gas to the Midstream plant, a great milestone for the state and opportunity for the LGA. The State and its citizen are happy to realise this and to be a partner of Growth with a fast-moving Company, bringing Opportunity of Employment and Prosperity.



 
The Group Managing Director further stated that  Akwa Ibom is annotated as the “Land of Promise” and in Eastern Obolo  the first project in the Liberty Free Trade Zone, will surely be the biggest success story in all of West Africa, as the people of the state, especially Eastern Obolo, will be giving their complete support in making sure this project is a Success. 

 
'This project will help in utilizing the resources of the country to bring maximum benefits for one and all. Giwa Gas will open the door of opportunity for all the major oil players in the Region. As a pioneer in the Oil business, NPDC has already aligned in this path to make it happen and working relentlessly in one of its biggest onshore oil blocks (OML-13) in the state as well as the Nation. 
The plant plans to utilize 40% of its production within the country to boost the production of LPG along with increase in production of fertilizers etc. The energy requirement of the state will meet substantially and in creating more jobs for Akwa Ibomites.'



Mr. Chukweke while thanking Akwa Ibom State Governor for his investment driven policies, also  recommits that SPFL Developers FZE, is determined to play its role in the energy industry in Nigeria. He elaborated that the plans of SPFL Developers FZE is to optimise the by-products of Oil fields including Petrochemical, Fertilizers, Polymers plants in future. In long run such endeavours will minimise the import dependency saving forex exchange of the nation and increase earning by exporting the products to different parts of the world. 


Akwa Ibom.state Governor , Mr. Udom Emmanuel while performing the foundation laying ceremony for the Sterling Petrochemical and Fertilizer Factory in Easternn Obolo Local Government Area  as part of activities to mark his 6years in office, said that he Will give maximum support for full realization of the project . He also said that the Liberty free trade  zone will become an industrial hub.
He stated that the people have to build their capacity to be able to function.


Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, said he is proud  to celebrate with the Governor and the developer for the life touching projects and stated that the project  will transform the economy of Akwa Ibom state. He commended Governor  Udom Emmanuel for creating enabling environment for  Investments to thrive.


Dignitaries who graced the occassion include; the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, members of the state Executive Council, Corporate organisations, traditional rulers youth of the host community amongst others.
