Udom govt shocks church leaders in A'Ibom: prohibits use of School Facilities For Socio-religious Activities


News coming out of Akwa Ibom State Government this Easter season to church leaders in Akwa Ibom state, may not be so palatable, as the government in the state has suddenly prohibited, the use of school facilities for socio-religious activities.
The government prohibited the use of public school facilities for social and religious gatherings after an executive council meeting. And the prohibition according to the government, also includes weekdays and Sundays.


The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong who is said to have disclosed the information to newsmen, declared: "henceforth, church owners who wish to use classrooms of public school for religious services must apply and obtain permission from the Commissioner for Education."


In addition, the government has also abolished, the weekend schooling system which came to be part of the covid-19 strategic plans, and has returned learning, to the five working days.
