The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Akwa Ibom State, Sir Charles Udoh, yesterday 30 January, 2021 in company of the Director of Flood and Erosion Control, Mr Okon Effiong, Chairman of Nsit Ubium LGA, Architect Iniobong Orok and security operatives paid an unscheduled visit to different dredging sites along Ikot Ntung overhead bridge, in Nsit Ubium and arrest of illegal dredgers and miners who violated government's stop work order was made.
Sir Udoh while addressing the press further emphasised that government is not against dredging business in the state but that operators should follow guidelines and standard in order to preserve and secure a healthy environment.
The Hon. Commissioner in his final speech sent out a strong warning to all those involved in illegal sand dredging and mining activities in the state to stop the dreadful act immediately to avoid the long arms of the law.
