Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong earlier today, Wednesday, 4th November, led the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Inyang Jameson, Directors as well as Management staff of parastatals under the Ministry for a Pre-budget defense before the House Committee on Information.
The exercise was carried out to acquaint the House Committee on Information on the level of preparedness by the Ministry to appear before the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance slated for Friday, 13th November, 2020.
Comrade Ini Ememobong who expressed appreciation to the House Committee on Information for the concern in the smooth presentation of the 2021 Budgetary allocations of the Ministry before the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance said, the provisions were made in compliance with IPSAS accrual standards and based on the COVID-19 induced financial realities.
While receiving the State Information helmsman, the Deputy House Leader and Chairman, House Committee on Information, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Aniefiok Dennis Akpan, said the Committee is solidly behind the Ministry in all its programmes and activities including the successful presentation and passage of the 2021 Budgetary allocation before the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance.
Rt. Hon. Barr. Aniefiok Dennis Akpan used the occasion to sympathize with the Ministry over the recent attack on AKBC Head office by hoodlums in the wake of the #EndSars protest.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Information who also Congratulated the Information Boss on his achievements so far in office was with a member of the committee, Rt. Hon. Effiong Bassey (Member, representing Oron/Udung Uko) alongside Barr. Chris Inwang (Parliamentary Counsel) and Mrs. Victoria Udofia (Committee Clerk).
Heads of Parastatals under the Ministry of Information and Strategy in the delegation of the Commissioner included: the Director General, Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC, Pastor Anietie Ukpe, the Managing Director, Akwa Ibom Newspapers Corporation,(Publishers of Pioneer Newspaper) Mr. Umoette Umoette and the Chairman, Ethical and Attitudinal Re-orientation Commission (EARCOM) Dr. Dorothy Thompson.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of a publication of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly by the House Committee Chairman on Information, Rt. Hon. Barr. Aniefiok Denis Akpan to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong.
