Kande Daniel Retires from Service; Sets up Online Tv

Ace broadcaster Kande Daniel has retired from the services of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA.

Ms. Daniel who retired as an Assistant Director, is a well known and admired broadcast journalist on national television.

She began work as a pioneer staff, in fact, first female broadcaster on Borno State Television BSTV Maiduguri.

She also became a well known News Editor, Radio voice and TV personality with Enugu State Broadcasting Service Enugu. From there she moved to Africa Independent Television AIT, as a news anchor in the Abuja bureau of the premier private broadcasting organization.

Kande Daniel then joined the Nigerian Television Authority

NTA as a pioneer staff of the flagship all-news Channel, NTA News 24 in Abuja.

At NTA she functioned fully in the

News department as a reporter, editor, programmes producer and presenter, and was again, best known as a news anchor, an art for which she has always had a flair.

Her attitude to work, dedication and efficiency earned her the nickname 'General', as her immediate boss Wilfred Ewaleifoh initiated.

In 2013 the Newsroom General took a short break that enabled her to also prove her mettle in the area of media and public relations by serving as Special Assistant on Media to then Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo. She went straight back into the NTA newsroom after that.

Over the years she has mentored many younger news writers and presenters who speak well of her writing and presentation skills, and willingly tried to learn from her.

Without making noise about it, she also, on her own, undertook to fish out, train and mentor younger ones in the organization as her retirement year was approaching.

After a while, this mentoring pet project of hers was formalized and given an official platform, when she voluntarily moved to the Department of Training and Capacity Building of the NTA.

This is where the ship of her broadcasting career as an employee berthed.

She retired as Assistant Director Training and Capacity Building.

Ms. Daniel who was widowed in 2004, has walked the tough path of broadcast journalism, raising the four children from her marriage to Engr. Chris Daniel, the eldest of whom is multiple award-winning Actor Daniel K. Daniel.

This is considered to be a great feat, in view of the very peculiar and demanding nature of the job.

Kande Daniel is also a strong unionist who served the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ in various capacities, and also led the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ as National President.

As if she had been waiting to 'explode', no sooner had she retired from public service did she hit the world with a new and impactful kind of gender-equity  messaging, through an online channel called PowerWoman Tv, with the slogan of 'A new page in gender equity'.

. This has gained instant popularity through its captivating weekly PowerWoman Video Series.

We wish the amiable and indefatigable broadcaster many more fruitful and happy years.
