... Reveals plans to establish College of Commissioners in Ministry of
Information and Strategy

A former
Commissioner for Information in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Parchi Umoh has been
described as a thoroughbred professional who gave his best in his service to
the State during his days as Hon. Commissioner for Information. This assertion
was made by the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Com. Ini
Ememobong while paying a condolence visit to Mrs. Affiong Umoh, wife of the
late Parchi Umoh as well as members of his family in their country home at Ikot
Ambang, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
The State
Information boss who was accompanied by his Permanent Secretary - Mr. Inyang
Jameson, as well as staffers of the Ministry of Information & Strategy
lauded the late Parchi Umoh’s cerebral prowess and reminisced fond memories
they both shared. He described Umoh’s demise as a loss not just to the Ministry
of Information & Strategy but to Akwa Ibom State as a whole and prayed that
the bereaved family finds the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He seized
the opportunity to inform the bereaved family of plans to establish a college
of Commissioners in the Ministry of Information and Strategy which is geared
towards preserving institutional memories and consolidating upon legacies of
the past as a leeway to accomplishments of the future. He stated that the
proposed college of commissioners will serve as an advisory board to the
ministry and appealed that the late Parchi Umoh’s Widow avails herself by
standing in his stead when the college would be inaugurated. This to him would
be a way of preserving the late Umoh’s legacies as Commissioner for Information
and member of the State Executive Council.
The
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Strategy, Mr. Inyang
Jameson in his remarks prayed for the repose of the late Parchi Umoh’s soul
describing him as one whose accomplishments will not be forgotten by the
Ministry.
In her
response, wife of the late Information Commissioner - Mrs. Affiong Umoh thanked
the Hon. Commissioner for Information & Strategy for making out time off
his busy schedule to commiserate with her and prayed for God’s guidance in the
discharge of his duties as the state information manager.
The remains
of the late Parchi Umoh will be laid to rest on Friday the 28th of August in
his country home at Ikot Ambang, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
