Akwa Ibom State Government is committed in building a
sustainable environment that will continue to attract investors within and
outside the State.
The state Commissioner for Environment and
Petroleum Resources, Sir. Charles Udoh made this known while interacting with
the Nigeria Environmental Society, Akwa Ibom State Chapter who paid him a
courtesy visit in his office on Friday.
Sir Udoh stated that Akwa Ibom state is one of the
safest States in Nigeria and our environment is second to none adding
that Government is ready to partner and colloborate with the organisation
for the development of the State.
The Environment boss who reiterated that Governor Udom
Emmanuel's administration is anchored on integrity, transparency and
accountability expressed the need for the Association to exchange ideas with
the Ministry to achieve common environmental goals.
Earlier the Chairman Nigeria Environmental Society,
Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Prof. Comfort Etok who congratulated Sir Udoh for
being deployed to the Ministry hinted the Commissioner of their yearly
programmes to include Essay Competition, Quiz Competition,Tree Planting, and
Environmental Audit on Eateries and Hotels.
"We are particular about what our people are
eating in the State and to make sure they are environmental compliant'' Prof
Etuk said.
Prof Etok while inviting the Commissioner to the 2020
Annual General Conference of Nigeria Environmental Society which is billed for
11th to 13th November, in Uyo pledged readiness to partner the Ministry
on all environmental projects adding that it will be their joy to see the
Commissioner succeed.
The high point was the induction of the Hon. Commissioner
as the member of The Nigeria Environmental Society.
