No solution has yet been found to the face-off between ASUU
chapter of the University of Lagos and the authorities of the institution as regards
the person and office of the ProChancellor of the University and Chairman of
Council, Dr Wale Babalakin.
Members of ASUU Unilag Chapter found out that the
meeting they were supposed to have today, had been postposed and what was
circulated in its place signed by the Chairman, ASUU UNILAG, Dele ASHIRU, reads:
“This is to inform our members that in view of the
postponement of the proposed Council meeting, the Congress of our great Union
initially scheduled to hold on the 15th of July, 2020 at the Foyer of the
Council Chamber is hereby POSTPONED.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Resolution of Congress
on the VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE AND DECLARATION OF PERSONA NON GRATA on the
ProChancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr Wale Babalakin subsists.
“The Union appreciates the support and solidarity of
our members in the struggle against arbitrariness, tyranny and unbridled
dictatorship. The Union makes us stronger. Dare to struggle! Dare to win. ALUTA
CONTINUA! VICTORIA ACERTA!”
