Senator Soji Akanbi aka SOJ, played the lead amidst donors in support of the health sector in handling issues related to the current Covid-19 that is wreaking havoc around the world.

As with the amiable youthful looking Senator of the 8th Senate, his philanthropic gesture this period, is just one of his usual donations he has been making over the years to the UCH. According to him, “we are not doing this just because of Covid-19, but as a Foundation we set up years ago and in my personal capacity, we try to meet various public needs from time to time.”

So with that in mind, penultimate Monday, the 23rd March, in the early hours of the morning, the Senator led a team from the Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF) into the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo state.

RAAF Founder and sole financier, Senator Soji Akanbi and his team were received by the management team of the UCH led by the Chief Medical Director of hospital, Professor Jesse Otegbayo and his team which included Mrs. Juliana Matthew, Director of Finance of UCH.

The foundation made cash donation to the teaching hospital as part of its regular support to the institution along with some relief materials.

Also as part of palliative measures at this time of Covid-19 lockdown and sit-at–home order of the federal government, Senator Soji Akanbi’s RAAF, has made available large quantities of hand sanitizers, food items and fund relief to be distrusted to different markets in Oyo state and various organizations to relief hardship at this period of lockdown. Distribution is in batches and still ongoing.

Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF) is a non-profit organization aimed at empowering the youths and widows and alleviating the sufferings of the down trodden.  The foundation after operating silently since 2005, went public in 2012.
