The argument over the relevance of May 29 as Democracy Day over June 12, has finally been laid to rest.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, yesterday confirmed that President Mohammadu Buhari has signed the Public Holidays Act Amendment Bill into law.
By this, the President "amended the Public Holidays Act which now removes May 29 of every year as a public holiday and now makes June 12, Democracy Day, as a public holiday in Nigeria."
