The Federal Government is ready to host world leaders
as part of June 12 Democracy Day celebrations. This much was disclosed by the
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in Abuja. According to
the Minister, the May 29th Inauguration will be low keyed as the
main celebrations will take place on June 12, Democracy Day.
Asked about the security concerns and fear held in some
quarters, the Minister waved aside such fears and declared that Nigeria is safe
to host world leaders.
Alhaji Lai Mohammed said that activities leading to the
second inauguration of President Mohammadu Buhari had already begun yesterday!
Today, Tuesday he said will be the commencement of a 3
Day National Youth Entrepreneurial Summit also in Abuja. This will be followed
with a Federal Executive Valedictory Session at the Council Chambers tomorrow Wednesday
and Jumat lecture and prayer at the National Mosque on Friday.
Saturday will be the First Lady’s Interactive Session
with Women. While Sunday May 26 will be an interdenominational service at the
National Christian Centre in Abuja. May 27 will be the day for the President to
give a Children’s Day broadcast. It would also be a fun-filled day for the
children as they will have a Variety party to enjoy later that day too.
The celebration will come to an end with the swearing
in of the President on May 29, at the Eagle Square, Abuja, along with a State
Banquet to be held later same evening.
