FASHOLA OPENS UP ON WHY HE DIDN'T STOP LANDLORDS FROM COLLECTING RENTS IN ADVANCE

The Federal Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola has given reason why he did not stop Lagos landlords from collecting rents in advance, a common practice in Lagos that has been heavily criticised and has brought many sorrows to people in Lagos who desire to rent an apartment at one time or another in the city.

According to Fashola who has in recent times been a two term governor of Lagos state, he actually made a case for a change in the collection of rents but some people kicked against it.
Fashola said; "even my salary as a minister is paid at the end of every month, not even at the beginning; then you the landlord is now asking me to bring next year’s salary, and we’re complaining that there’s corruption.
“I tried to intervene as a governor, passing the resolution to our own council in Lagos then, but the outcome was not peaceful, because there were landlords in our midst.”
According he minister the landlords he was working with resisted his proposal.
