At Dunni Olunloyo's Classy 50th birthday party at Lekki, Lagos

Dunni Olunloyo

Words By Paul Ukpabio

Panache, class and style came alive in Lagos penultimate Friday night, when Dunni Olunloyo turned 50.

The invitation cards were exclusive and were only in the hands of the rich and famous. It admitted just one person into the Imperial Hall of the Lekki Coliseum where the 50th birthday bash took place.

The party started as early as 7pm with hefty bouncers at the entrance to prevent unwanted guests.

But for all Dunni Olunloyo's guests, big boyz and big gals who flew in from different parts of Europe, America, Abuja, Port Harcourt and those residents in Lagos, once they were through with clearance at the entrance, they were handed a glass of champagne and ushered to a seat in the well-lit decorated hall.

Most of Dunni’s guests were those whose names ring a bell. From Senator Joy Emordi to Senator Grace Bent, Chief Mrs. Titi Oseni, Justice Adesola Oguntade, Senator Fatima Raji Rasaki, Wosilat Okoya Seriki, Chief Doyin Okupe, Peju Diyan, Deola Apampa, Chief Femi Pedro, Rufai Ladipo and a host of other big names.

Guess what! Most of the guests were fashionably dressed in Jeans because that was Dunni’s specified dress code. And it was an old skool nite party!

For Dunni Olunloyo the birthday gal, it was a fun filled night all the way…as she danced from one old skool music to another.

From a lovely white flowing party dress to a darker one and to an Ankara dress, Dunni changed clothes according to the mood of the night.

She was happy, her mom, and some other family members were there in the party hall, big sister was there and UK big boy and returnee Mr. Gbenga Olunloyo was there live!

The cakes came in different crafting and they represented the things that Dunni loves and adores. One of the cakes was designed as a big chest filled with all the adornments that cheers a lady up!

The 50 year olds and above danced to the music of the 70s, 80s, 90s, though the hot latest jamz were chipped in every now and then, to the dancing joy of all at the party.

Doyin Okupe danced his heart out! He danced as if there was a prize at stake. Senator Joy Emordi danced with gracious style and Mr. Rufai Ladipo recalled all the dance steps of the 80s and 90s with great delight. It was obvious that each of the guests had a good time.

Dunni’s guests did not only dance all night, they had more than enough to eat, chew and drink.

The caterers delivered with a range of choice foods, finger foods, and exotic drinks flowed freely into the morning.

And by the time the last of the guests were leaving at 4am, most had a bottle or two of choice wine to take with them.

Afterwards Dunni and her guests retired to sleep for the remaining hours of the morning at the luxury Peninsula Hotel just two buildings away from the party venue.
