For the
people of downtown Makoko in Lagos Mainland, the Valentine Day celebration on
Tuesday brought happiness, joy and a big party! That is because, that day, the
people of Makoko felt loved and also received physical love and warmth from humanity,
as the Management and Staff of MIC Funeral Services, a Lagos based Funeral
Services Company, hosted a Valentine Day party for the community.
The venue was
the open space outside the Baale’s office and home. The Baale, Alhaji Ibrahim
Aladetan, the Baale at Apollo, Makoko had earlier called out his people, and
they came out en masse. The event witnessed a large turnout of Makoko’s
residence who praised the organization’s humanitarian gesture towards them during
this period of economic recession in the country.
Most of the
school pupils, who returned from school to witness the event, joined the party
which took off at noon. Food was in abundance and so were gifts such as
mosquito nets and daily breakfast needs. These were well packaged for each
individual.
Also, the
organization brought with them, professional medical team who came along with
medical items to give the community, free medical check up and treatment, for
some ‘common sicknesses and ailments.’
The Baale
praised the philanthropic effort of the organization for coming out to show
love for their fellow country people in this period of economic recession in
the country. He also rained prayers of blessing for the leader of the
organization Pastor Mrs Tunji Okusanya.
In her
response, Mrs Okusanya, the Managing Director of MIC Funeral Services said the
gesture is a fulfilment of what her late husband Tunji Okusanya stood for. She
said he was a philanthropist who funded many humanitarian efforts. That the
organization will continue to do corporate social service to the society, in
remembrance of the organization’s founder.
It will be
re-called that Mr Tunji Okusanya and his son were involved in a fatal plane crash few years ago.
