Chief Kenny Martins, other Celebrities adopt children through Petrolex Oil & Gas boss Oladiran Olusegun Adebutu’s Foundation

Just at the wake of the New Year, Petrolex Oil & Gas boss Oladiran Olusegun Adebutu through his OOA Foundation, gathered influential people in the society along with celebrities’ at Muri Okunola, Victoria Island, Lagos for a picnic, and the mission was to give and share.

According to Ms. Kemi Sokenu-Morris,the CEO of OOA Foundation, last year “300 orphans and vulnerable children were carefully selected from six local government areas in Ogun state and will benefit from the pilot project.

“The six selected local government areas include Odogbolu, Ikenne, Imeko, Yewa South, Abeokuta South and Abeokuta North; while plans are underway to extend the intervention to other geographical zones of the country.”

So, these children were all in Lagos at Victoria Island, to meet with their new parents who were there to receive them.

It was a party for the children, for the new parents and other donors to the organisation. The children danced to show their joy.

Mrs Kemi Sokenu-Morris commended donors to the foundation, for their large hearts towards the project. She explained that “the picnic was an initiative aimed at giving the children a sense of belonging and social latitude while connecting them for the first time with the donors. Most of the children have never been to a city like Lagos before, they have never been at a Christmas party before, and some are seeing a bouncing castle for the first time.

“One of the most touching moment was when little Treasure Davies and her mother were introduced to the guests. Treasure was born with a hole in the heart. The public outcry of her mother brought the pathetic case to the attention of the Chairman of the Foundation who undertook the full responsibility for his heart operation here in Nigeria but by specialists from America. Treasure now has his life back as he was seen walking and running everywhere during the picnic.

The colourful picnic climaxed with the presentation of OOA Foundation Certificate of Care & Support which were handed over by the Orphans and Vulnerable children to their donors. All the children also went home with beautiful Christmas/New Year gifts courtesy of the Foundation after the cutting of the New Year cake.”

One of the patrons, Sir (Dr.) Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu who lamented the plight of orphans and vulnerable children across the country, applauded the conception and creation of OOA Foundation. Pledging his continued support for the Foundation, he also adopted 30 children from the selected 300.

The OOA Foundation (a non-profit and non-political organisation), was formerly launched in October 2016 with the vision of reducing poverty among vulnerable children and women in the society. The Foundation has a well cut out mission to support orphans, vulnerable children and women with increased access to quality education, primary healthcare, nutrition, social welfare and economic strengthening through sustainable development activities.

Other Other patrons of the Foundation include, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, ex President of Nigeria; Dr. Sen. Grace Folashade Bent; former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Salihu Modibo Alfa Balgore; Former Minister of Youth and Culture, Alabo Tonye Graham Douglas; Obi of Onitsha, HRM, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe (Agbogidi); Emir of Zaria, HRH, Sarkin Shehu Idris and Barrister (Mrs.) Margaret Nkem Onyema- Orakwusi.
