The pride of a woman highlighted at GIRL ARISE Forum in Uyo

Rule Nigeria Interactive for Girls (RUNING) held a one day forum tagged: ‘Girl Arise,’ with the theme ‘Accelerating Gender Parity’ last Friday at the Ibom eLibrary Conference Hall, along IBB Avenue, Uyo. The Forum was held as an expression of the International Women’s Day 2016 (IWD) and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The major topic discussed at the forum was gender equality, and featured Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Obot, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Science and Technology as Keynote Speaker.  Barr. Emem Daniel, Vice President of FIDA, Akwa Ibom State spoke on Gender Parity: The Proverbial Unicorn, while Mrs. Ronke Ojeikere the Founder/Coordinator of SOTHAWACA, delivered  a paper on Gender Equality Theory Versus the Challenges. On her part, Pastor Hephzibah Askia of Kings Solomon Temple II, spoke on Gender Parity and the Daughters of Zelophehad.

Among those who graced the event, were; Comrade Jeffrey-Scott Emuakpor the Executive Director of VAVCI, Mr. Ekpeno Gold Etim, Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Reorientation and Comrade Omofon Mark, the Vice President Student Union Government of University of Uyo.
The Forum which was geared towards motivating, inspiring and celebrating Nigerian young women also featured the exhibition of the book, ‘The Pride of A Woman,’ authored by Enobong Nsima Thomas.
Girl Power: Eileen & Rhoda
There were poetry renditions by Ekemini Francis and Esther Ime, and uber-guitarist, Drizzle Richards delivered a command performance stringing and singing to her edgy tune, ‘Don’t Hesitate.’
Rhoda Nduaesa, Aniebiet Francis, Emem Brownson, Emem Dominic Ekanem and Enobong Essien all received the RUNING Girl Arise Awards for Media, Film & Advocacy, Information & Communication Technology, Academia, and Fashion, respectively.
Guests
 The event climaxed with a fashion exhibition which had models sashaying down the runway with designs from Enzee Clothings.

The Girl Arise event was chaired by Dr. Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi, Former Minister for Lands, Housing & Urban Development; produced by Ubong ‘Kardynal’ Ekanem, and hosted/moderated by Eileen Etettim, CEO of Onions Creation and Vice President of RUNING.
