It is official as Tourism Icon, Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye, Founder, IPADA INITIATIVE and IPADA INITIATIVE Celebrations, has been formally inducted into the Island Club, Lagos.
At a colourful, flamboyant evening party yesterday at the famous club, which was part of the activities commemorating Nigeria at 65, tagged: Independence Dance & New Members Night, the Tourism Icon and Founder of La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort and La Campagne brand worldwide, was amongst few other meritorious Nigerians that took the ceremonial oath of the Island Club, in the presence of movers and shakers of Nigeria, amongst them were, Chief Olu Falomo, Alhaji Kehinde Shitta, Elders of the Club, Alhaji Rafiu Tinubu, the Chairman of the Club, Omo'ba Dr. Rotimi Olasode-Martins, the Vice Chairman of the club, Chief Ademola Amure, the Royal Father of the day, HRM, Oba Dr. Oluseyi Ayodeji Adewole Adediran, Otileta 1 Towulade Owu Akinale, Chief Wole Olanipekun, Past Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the club, the club management committee members, Mr. Olabanji Oladapo, Prince Adelana Adeshina, Chief Alex Onabanjo, Chief Francis Ojo, Honourable Kayode Amusan, Chief Olushola Olutimehin, Engr. Oluwasesan Dada, and a host of others.
While the camaraderie took place at the background of the evening party, and 'Music Elites,' the band on stage, played light entertaining music, the entire ceremony took place in a very ceremonial note of order, led by the Chairman.
The elders of the club were on hand to ensure it all went according to the good old club's tradition that has stood the test of time since Friday, October 29, 1943, when it was founded.
In his address, the club Chairman, Omo'ba Dr. Rotimi Olasode-Martins, went briefly down history lane, as to how and why the club was established, which among other reasons, was to promote good fellowship and interracial harmony.
He significantly pointed to the inductees, the importance of the Peacock, the symbol of the club. The importance of decorum, the importance of order, and respect for one another. This was followed by the administration of the oath, which was duly signed after the induction by all the new members.
So from one aspect of the ceremony to another, the evening was filled with laughter, conviviality, good food, good high Society mingling and good light entertainment gists, only for the ears of the high Society at the party.
To furthermore entertain at the evening was Atunda Entertainment, a cultural troupe founded by Tourism icon, Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye. The elite presentation, added to the colours of the evening. The cultural artistes in their brightly colored traditional costumes, depicting the various tribes of Nigeria, as they danced, sang in a short performance that mirrored the unity of Nigeria, at it's 65th Independence day celebration at Island Club, Lagos.
