Ijero-Ekiti, on my mind. Fond memories of a place, full of warmth and so much love. How could I forget, a town so suddenly much in a hurry to grow into a spectacular city, after gracefully being paddled on, unto the developmental hands of Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, (M.O.B) CON,
Chairman Senate Committee on judiciary human rights and legal matters
also fondly known as MOB.
That the people of Ijero-Ekiti, in Ekiti State, have commended Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) for his various interventions in providing unprecedented constituency projects to the community, is no longer news.
As a tourism writer, this I witnessed first hand, on my recent tour of Ekiti state, which ended in this historical town. It was indeed a privileged to be welcomed by the people of Ijero-Ekiti who first whispered to me the care and love that MOB has showered on the constituency.
At first, when I seemed not to hear their whispers, they increased their voices in volumes and offered to take me on a tour. As it is said in Africa, to see is to believe!
All over Ijero local government, we toured, a happy labour to see first hand thew humane side of a dedicated, humble giver to these communities. Notably the ijero constituency projects was truly physically there to be seen and inspected.
Solar street lights, 20 poles spreading all along igemo Street, Odo ese street, Oke Agba Street and Olanipekun Street, Ijero-Ekiti.
There was the 500 kva transformer at the community health Centre, Ijurin Ekiti. Other projects were the Motorised solar powered boreholes, which were located at Odo Oye compound 1, Ijero-Ekiti; the LG Secretariat Road, Ijero-Ekiti, the Oba's Palace at Ayegunle Ekiti.
The completed constituency projects also extended to Ojude Oba, Ilukuno-Ekiti; Okebola street, Iloro/Ijurin, Oke oja ikoro ekiti.
Same also at No 1 odiolowo Temidire Ekiti; Opp Palace Odo Owa, Ekiti,
Nigeria Police Force Area Command Office at Aramoko Road, another right in front of Yemisi Ajisafe's house, in Ikoro-Ekiti and lastly, at Oluroyes Palace Compound in Iroko Ekiti.
It had been an exhausted tour for me. A two day affair that spoke of the constituency and Ijero kingdom itself. I wouldn't know the major reasons why Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) could so love a constituency so much to show such human kindness and love, but what I noticed was that the Chairman, Senate Committee on judiciary human rights and legal matters, must surely, have a good heart!
But the best part of my trip to Ekiti state and particularly Ijero-Ekiti Constituency was that, I witnessed an appreciative people. A happy people who admitted and celebrate their benefactor. The distinguished Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) is open heartedly loved here in Ijero-Ekiti. He is a household name here. A significant political entity. The elders and the youth could not hide the endearment to the Senator, and they told me that, "for single-handedly, maintaining and sustaining our party's office, when the opposition party was in power in the state," that they remain indebted to his love and care.
I was also informed that Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB), has promised to build and equip an ICU center for the state hospital in Ijero, as well as donate an ambulance to the College of Health in the town.
I could not help but rejoice with the people of Ijero-Ekiti for being blessed with a conscientious, committed, God-Sent, distinguished Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB), as their major developmental promoter. I left on a happy note, knowing that our country will continue in greatness if more people like the distinguished Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB), abound in the country.
