At FOODDOTCOMACADEMY Services, First Business of Food Summit

FOODDOTCOMACADEMY Services had it's first business of food summit some few days ago.

The theme was: Building a sustainable food business opportunity and key drivers.

Prompted by Dr. Omolola Omosebi, Head of Department, Food and Science Technology, Mountain Top University, Mr Rasaq Oke, Founder/CEO fooddotcomacademy services, delivered the welcome address for the event.

In attendance was, Mrs. Olusola Adesokan the Chief Executive Officer of COMSIA Nig Ltd, who delivered Chairperson's opening remark. While the keynote speech was done by Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture, Ogun state.

The first paper presentation was delivered by Dr. Mrs Monica Hemben Eimunjeze, director at NAFDAC Lagos state office. She addressed business owners about how to get their product certified and registered by following the appropriate channels and make sure they meet up to standards, stating that nano, micro, small and medium enterprises should make sure they follow the regulatory requirements.

Mrs. Francisca Ikediash of Ajinomoto Food Nigeria Limited emphasised on the importance of food and how the popular food seasoning was made from sugarcane. 

Mrs. Sumbo Olagoke, on her part, spoke on exercise and how to maintain the body, while Mr. Bamidele Oke, Executive Director, Finance and IT Tantalizer Plc, enlightened the people by sharing his wealth of experience in food business in the past 20 years.

Oke talked about the factors to consider when starting food business. He said, the success and failure of a business depends largely on getting the site of location. Also, the most important thing to consider in starting a business is fixed capital and working capital, machinery, people, entrepreneur, integrity. Factors to consider before raising capital like amount required, are, cost of capital, timing to raise the capital. He further said that food business is a low margin business but it's a cash involving business.

On certification, Dr. Sakirudeen Ajani, Ssecretary General Halal certification Authority (HCA) Nigeria, talked about the essence of the organization in create awareness and how products can be certified and the various steps for granting certificate.

The Registrar/CEO NICFOST also talked about impact of Nigerian Council of Food Science and Technology as a professional regulatory council. To add more color to the event was the award presentation which was done by Mrs. Kema Ashibougwu, to different personalities like Mr.Razak Oke, Dr. Sakirudeen Ajani, Mrs. Veronica Ezeh, Dr. Mrs Omolola Omosebi, Dr. Mrs. Monica Hemben Eimunjeze.
