Oba Elegushi throws weight behind Canada’s Drum Festival

Ahead of the maiden edition of the Drum Festival (Ayan-Agalu Festival ) slated July this year in Canada, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, the Oba  of Ikate-Elegushi, has thrown his weight behind the festival.  

The culturally stimulating festival holds at Fuzion Banquet Hall, 1300 Britannia Road E, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, 8pm, themed, “Rejigging Yoruba Cultural Heritage as Catalyst for National Unity, Progress and Development - The Ayangalu Example”.

In a letter written to Oba Elegushi by Prince Segun Akanni, the publisher of The Drum  Media Inc and The Convener of the festival also notified the monarch of the desire to honour him at the event.  He said Oba Elegushi deserves the award as a way of his recognizing and appreciating his promotion and preservation of culture, and  compelling developmental strides in the spheres of healthcare enlightenment, modern and effective road networks, well-structured housing scheme and other impactful initiatives in his domain. He said: “We are exceptionally thrilled to present an Award of Excellence on Tradition and Culture to him at the event.”

Some of the other dignitaries and crème de la crème expected to grace the prestigious event include: Arole Oodua, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Adeyeye (Ojaja III), Ooni of Ife, Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, Canadian Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister Of Finance, Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, Hon. Ahmed Hussen, Canada Council for the Arts, Mr. Simon Brault,  President of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCUNESCO) Mr Richard Kistabish, Canadian Members of Parliament, Mayors of Toronto, Mayor John Tory, Mayor Of Brampton, Mayor Patrick Brown, Mayor Of Mississauga, Mayor Bonnie Crombie and Nigerian Top Government officials among other important personalities from Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Benin Republic and Canada.
