Dangote, Ahmed, Others for 25th PEARL Awards On Sunday Nov. 27th

Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON has been confirmed as the Chairman of the 25th edition of PEARL Awards billed for Eko Hotel and Suites on November 27, 2022.

Chairman of the Board of Governors of PEARL Awards Nigeria, Chief (Dr.) Farouk Umar confirmed this in Lagos, stating that Dangote would be in the company of Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, CON as Distinguished Guest of Honour, along with Director General, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mr Lamido Yuguda as Special Guest of Honour at the prestigious Awards event.

According to him, “The Chairman of Dangote Group’s acceptance to chair the event is in recognition of the values and the contribution of the Awards to Capital Market development since inception and also adds to the long list of endorsement that the Award has garnered over the years.”

Dr. Farouk added that the 2022 Award night already has a long list of confirmed Capital Market titans who would both be gracing the event as nominees in respect of the performance of their companies on the bourse in the outgoing year.

Meanwhile, this year’s nomination list as recently unveiled by the Awards’ Board of Governors is led by, FBN Holdings Plc and Total Energies Marketing Nigeria Plc both with three mentions each. 

FBN Holdings Plc has been named in the Sectoral Leadership Award in Financial Services (Other Financial Institutions), where it is in contention with Access Holdings Plc and United Capital Plc for the Award.FBN Holding is also a candidate for the 2022 Market Excellence Awards for Highest Dividend Cover in the year under consideration, a nomination it shares with Guinness Nig. Plc and Transnational Corporation PlcThe third nomination of FBN Holdings is in the Corporate Governance Award along with Total Energies and Marketing Nigeria Plc and United Capital Plc. 

Total Energies & Marketing Nigeria Plc on its part is a Corporate Governance Award nominee and also in contest for the Sectoral Awards for the Oil and Gas which nomination is shared with Seplat Energies Plc and Conoil Plc. The third mention they have in the 2022 nomination for the PEARL Awards is their nomination for the Highest Net Asset Ratio Award, which they share with SFS Real Estate Investment Trust Plc and Seplat Energy Plc. Other Top nominees include Dangote Cement Plc, United Capital Plc, Guinness Nigeria Plc, Nigeria Breweries Plc, Learn Africa Plc, CWG Plc, Nigeria Aviation Handling Co. Plc, Courteville Business Solutions Plc among others.

Other honours that would be contested for at the 2022 PEARL Awards event include the Issuing House of the Year Award, Stockbroking Firm of the Year Award and Good Corporate Governance Award under the Special Recognitions Awards Category.

The Special Honorary Awards Category would feature the Capital Market Journalist of the Year Award, Media Award for Quality Capital Market Reporting, Special Recognition Award for Capital Market Development and the PEARL CEO of the Year Award.Feelers from the Awards Secretariat indicate that in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of PEARL Awards, the PEARL Lifetime Achievement Award for National and Continental Economic Development will be conferred on a most deserving recipient for the first time in the 27-year history of the Awards.PEARL Awards, instituted in 1995, based on empirical facts and figures, rewards companies listed on Nigerian Exchange for outstanding performance and has been endorsed by the apex Capital Market regulatory authority, the Securities & Exchange Commission for almost two decades now.
