It was an emotional goodbye for the management of Tele-communication
Company MTN yesterday, when the Company Secretary, Mr Uto Ukpanah, announced the
retirement of some of its non-executive Directors. Large on the list for
retirement is the name of the Chairman, Dr. Paschal Dozie who retired after 18
years on the board.
According to the statement, their retirement is due to the expiration of their tenure and in compliance with applicable codes of Corporate Governance. Others on the list are: Col Sani Bello (Rtd), Vice Chairman; Chief Victor Odili, OON, Non-Executive Director, while other non-executive directors are Malam Ahmed Dasuki; Mr Babatunde Folawiyo, Mr Gbenga Oyebode, MFR.
However, the retirement would take effect from September 2nd. Meanwhile, a new board headed by Dr Ernest Ndukwe will also take off on same date September 2nd an will be composed of Dr Ernest Ndukwe, Chairman Designate, Mr Ferdinand Moolman- Chief Executive Officer, Mr Michael Onochie Ajukwu – Independent Non-Executive Director, Mr Muhammad K. Ahmad, OON -Independent Non-Executive Director.
