PEARL Awards 2019 Gears Up As Central Working Committee Gets Inaugurated

PEARL Awards, Nigeria’s unique honour platform for companies quoted on the Nigeria Stock Exchange has begun preparations to reward exceptional performances in the year 2019, with the inauguration of the Central Working Committee (CWC) a few days ago.

The preparation for the Award ceremony which usually starts with the inauguration of this annual CWC, is right on track within its normal schedule. The formal inauguration took place at the Awards Secretariat, Lagos. Organizers for the awards revealed that typical of the event which has been staged in the last 24 years, this year’s version also comes with a promise of innovation and excellence.

According to the President of PEARL Awards Nigeria, Mr. Tayo Orekoya, there’s much to celebrate this year! “We have kept the momentum high for the past 23 editions of the Award and I am confidence this year’s edition which has been confirmed for Eko Hotels and Suites on November 24 will be the biggest and the best so far, given the caliber and focus  of the newly inaugurated Central Working Committee.”

PEARL Awards has three main categories, which are; The Main Competitive Category Awards under which companies would be rewarded for Sectorial Leadership Awards, Market Excellence Awards and The PEARL of the Nigerian Stock Market.

The Honourary Awards category is the second category which has PEARL CEO of the year, Outstanding Honorary Award for the Capital Market Development, Capital Market Journalist of the year and Media Award for Capital Market Reporting.

The last is the Special Recognition Award, which has Issuing House of the year Award, Stockbrocking firm of the year Award and Good Corporate Governance Award.

In 2018, Seplat won the PEARL of the Nigeria Stock Market which was presented by acting Director General of the Security and Exchange Commission, Ms. Mary Uduk who commended Pearl Awards for the consistency in rewarding the exceptional players in the capital market.

Orekoya said that the huge support the Awards has enjoyed with the regulatory body over the years also speaks to the reason for the doggedness of the team in reaching new heights with the Awards.

This year, among other things, PEARL Awards would be making an historic incursion into some strategic market across the continent as a way to increasing interest and call to extend the influence and objectivity of the Award across the continent.

“This year’s PEARL Awards will be the biggest in its annals and we are proud that our objectivity and consistency over the years has earned not only us but Nigeria as a whole, the reputation to be sought for and accepted as a standard reward template for Markets in other African countries,” Orekoya added.
