Abak LGA Boss Suspended Over Assault On Man Who Called Him Out Over Debt ... Another LGA Boss threatens Journalist

Culled from Igbere Tv with additional report from our reporters

Barr. Imoh Williams, the Chairman of Abak Local Government, has been suspended from office indefinitely by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly over the viral assault video showing the moment a man was been beaten for calling out over debt.
It was gathered that Mr. Williams was also mandated to appear before the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Igbere TV had in an earlier report shared a video clip of a man being beaten up by some men which had gone viral.

Reports claim that the victim of the assault is an artisan who worked for the chairman of Abak LGA in Akwa Ibom state.

It was gathered that the yet-to-be-identified artisan had allegedly demanded payment of N75,000 for his services which he offered the chairman, Igbere TV reports.Instead of getting paid for his services, he was attacked by men alleged to be working for the LGA chairman and beaten to a pulp.

Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom State Governor, has condemned the assault inflicted on a man for calling out LGA chairman owing him money, Igbere TV reported.

Also in view is the case of another Local Government Chairman who threatened a journalist for mentioning him in a story after a youth protest by two communities over marginalization by an oil company in his local government area.

Unknown to him, some people had the voice recording of the incident. It is good that the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state is aware of these cases in order to checkmate the activities and excessive powers of these local Government Chairmen.
