'FRANK MEKE' BOWS TO APPEAL, STEPS DOWN FROM FTAN ELECTION RACE

The Federation of Associations of Tourism (FTAN) presidential hopeful in the forthcoming election, Mr Frank Meke has withdrawn from the race due to appeals and pressures from highly influential quarters.

An online statement signed by an official of the Directorate of Frank Meke Campaign Organisation, Frank Ihejirika, explained that Meke’s decision to drop his ambition to contest for the position of the president in the association, followed pressure and appeals from the Director General of National Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Runsewe (NCAC), Otunba Segun Runsewe.

The Campaign Organisation stated that the appeals and pressure, heavily swayed Meke’s decision to drop this noble agenda and earlier announcement by him to contest in the forthcoming election for the office of the President of FTAN as a way to showcase his expertise and valuable experience as a key player to re-define the progressive tourism direction for the association and tourism sector in Nigeria in general.

The statement from Frank Meke Campaign Organisation also added that as a result of the various meetings and appeals from various notable quarters, Meke has humbly agreed to step down from contesting in the forthcoming FTAN election to  give another opportunity  to the incumbent FTAN Executives to focus on corrective measures to take the association and  private sector tourism  to higher level from the state of mediocrity.

Based on this, the Directorate thanked the entire Frank Meke Campaign Team, stakeholders and general public for exhibiting high level of support and maximum cooperation during the short period.
The Campaign Organisation stated that for  the records  Meke’s earlier decision to contest for the office of FTAN President was not based on selfish interest but to diligently serve and to actualise stakeholders clamouring for a formidable and progressive leadership in FTAN.
