All is set for the Awujale’s 85th birthday
in a few days’ time. Awujale is the royal title of the king of Ijebu Kingdom,
and he is addressed as the Awujale of Ijebuland.
At present, the entire Ijebu land is agog as Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II, who hails from the Anikinaiya Ruling House, positions to celebrate his birthday.
At present, the entire Ijebu land is agog as Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II, who hails from the Anikinaiya Ruling House, positions to celebrate his birthday.
For this particular celebration, the Awujale more or
less is considered a hero because for the first time in quite a long while, the
king stuck his neck out to be partisan in politics by calling up support for
Dapo Abiodun who eventually has emerged as the governor elect of Ogun state.
It was not an easy feat for the monarch to do, considering
that the incumbent governor did not see eye to eye with such choice having
chosen a different candidate to support and to replace himself.
At 85 the Awujale has come a long way all through the
years rallying together his subjects and people of Ijebuland, seeing to the
growth and prosperity of his sons and daughters who have also excelled in
different spheres of human endeavours inside and outside the country.
So when the drums sound in a few days’ time, the sound
will be loud and huge because the Awujale will be celebrating himself, the
people of the Ijebu land, illustrious sons and daughters, he will be
celebrating the seat of government at Ibara which will soon be occupied by an
Ijebu man and he will be celebrating the influence that Ogun state presently enjoys
in the comity of states of the country, and many other achievements.
