CELEBRITIES FLOCK TO THE MOVIES WITH 2BABA

…AS 'THE POWER OF 1' MOVIE LANDS IN LEKKI, AJAH AREA OF LAGOS

Grand Cinema by Chevron, Ajah along Lagos-Epe Expressway came alive on Saturday 12th January 2019, when the Power of 1 movie written by music promoter and COSON Board member, Efe Omoregbe, stormed the cinema.

The usually quiet road on most weekend especially in the morning hours, received an unusual traffic of people and cars as celebrities and movie lovers hurried to the venue to feast their eyes on the Power of 1.

The Power of 1 is the story of how a popular musician 'Legit' playfully posted online, the social media, criticising the negative policies of government and calling for a mass protest.

But before he could realise what was happening, he had suddenly become the rallying point for the protest. And what was meant to be just a protest, had taken a dramatic frightening dimension as newer dangerous issues emerged.

According to the ex Minister of Education and Presidential Candidate for Alliance Congress Party, Oby Ezekwesili who among others were there to see the movie for the first time, the story of this movie, is the story of Nigeria's hip hop star Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2Baba, when he chose sometime ago to protest the anomalies in our society. "I admired his courage and seeing the movie indeed shows the harrowing experiences the musician and his family had to go through just because he called for a simple protest."

Ezekwesili called for more action plan that will be positive so that people would be liberated from suffering in the country.

"The Power of 1 movie, is a must watch and I wish this was shown today at the National Stadium where we would have had more people to watch and be inspired," Ezekwesili added.

On his part, Alliance For New Nigeria Party Presidential Candidate, Mr Fela Durotoye speaking after watching the movie at Grand cinema said that the movie, recalls the bold step taken by the musician (2Baba) to call the government of the day to order. The call for the protest was meant to push the government to correct the ills of our society. Fela Durotoye said that the matter which aroused the need for protest then, are still on the front burner of our nation's political life today and should not be wished away.

He said that is why he is in the political race. "The power of 1 is not just an ordinary movie, it is a movie that compels us to start thinking of a better life for ourselves and our children. The system that we are in today, calls for a change in government policies and we as youths feel it most. The Power of 1 movie is a call to action," he added.
