Imelda ada okwori popularly known as Imelda Jane is a Benue born Naija pop sound & Afro Folk Soul music artist / dancer / keyboardist / song writer, Humanitarian, entrepreneur and a performer with great passion for the down trodden who is very easy going and flexible to work with.
She hails from Ojigo, Edumoga Ehaje district of okpokwu LGA. Born into the humble family of Mr and Mrs Emmanuel okwori. She is the first daughter but second child. A product of Federal University of agriculture, Benue State Polytechnic ugbokolo, spirit 2 soul school of music makurdi, our Lady of Fatima girls secondary school Aidogo okpoga, Saint Bernard primary school ugwu okpoga and Mercy nursery & primary school, ugwu okpoga respectively.
Unlike other artist, Imelda Jane started her music carrier from a very tender age. She was mentored by her mother who was also a singer, performer and dancer and had her dance group back in the days. Imelda Jane was able to keep the passion burning with the support and love from her entire family and friends.
When she started her music career professionally, she was not lucky but blessed to have met with top shots in the industry. She started with Nelson Brown when she relocated to Lagos, then she met the late Legend OJB JEZREEL who believed in her dream and nicknamed her 'THE NATURAL AUTO TUNED VOICE' Because of her unique vocals. This two producers helped her in moulding the uniqueness in her voice and encouraged her to believe in that voice abd never try to sound like anyone else but herself. Shortly after, fate led her part to meet Ambassador Cornel Udofia who notured her brand for many years. Cornel to her is one of the best thing that has happened to her career. Through Ambassador Cornel, She was privileged to meet so many movers and shakers of the entertainment industry and all she learnt from him contributed to the brand 'Imelda Jane' today.
At present, She is the Chairman for IMELDA JANE INITIATIVES for Women and Persons with Disability in Nigeria, the Celebrity ambassador for Living for disabilities initiatives in Nigeria, Vehicle Owners Association of Nigeria (VOAN) Ambassador and the Queen of wheels 2015/2016. She was currently awarded Global Goodwill Ambassador becoming the first ever Nigerian Celebrity to join major stakeholders and great personalities internationally for her goodwill towards women and persons with disability in Nigeria. This recognition is one of the best thing that has happened to this beautiful songbird. To her, it is a source of encouragement to do more.
Imelda Jane has worked with so many artists like the late Ojb Jezreel, jaywon, Small Doctor aka the mosquito killer, the legendary mike okri, Obesere, Nelson brown, K-Solo, sheriffa Gunu(ghana), side 1, phenom, Barharmas (ghana), Milan Lion(Europe), Chance Rock(USA), Jermy Young (USA) etc; with so many singles to her credit, recorded so many songs yet to be released. She is set with her debut Album due for release before the end of the year 2018.
She has won notable Awards such as: Hype on TV Awards, Lead Times Africa Int'l Award, Divas Award, Owambe Clothing Hall of Fame Award,City Pride Award, Idoma Voice Personality of the year 2014, CAMA Award 2015, NAIS Uni Lag Chapter Award, HipTv Rookie of the year nominee 2014 etc.
Imelda Jane has shared the stage with many Nigerian and international Super stars like: 2face idibia, blackface, wizkid, Dbanj, Mike Okri, falz,Terry G, J Martins, bright chimieze, Tee Mac, Bongos Ikwue, Daddy Shockey, Omotola Jalade Ekainde, D'jinee, Skayles, Artquake, Olamide, TWO, Small doctor, 9ice, obesere, in Nigeria and other countries.
The Benue sexiest diva and Queen of Harmony as she is fondly called by her fans has a high and good taste of fashion. Her stage presence can be likened to the likes of Beyonce, rihana, shakira and jlo internationally and Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Seyi Shay etc in Nigeria. Her Vocal Prowess is unique and can be slightly traced to the legendary Tracy Chapman and Tina Tonel. Yet she stands out in all ramifications.
Imelda Jane has done jingle campaigns for politicians and non profit organization's. She headlined the UNITED NATIONS DAY celebration for persons with disability in Abuja, Nigeria December 2017 and CAMA AWARD 2016 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Her last studio effort titled Owoyato ft small doctor which was released last year enjoyed a lot of downloads and streaming on MTN Music+.
Imelda Jane is Set to drop her latest hit single accompanied with the video titled 'WHO GET MONEY(OLOWO)'. The Video which was shot in Lagos island was directed by Meadows Visuals aka Wolfgang Visuals Starring Mr Accolades Charles Okocha. It is such a colorful video and imelda jane can't wait to bless her fans with this highly entertaining Visuals. The song was produced by SAMMIX. One of the Top Abuja based producers.
