FADAN, SOCIETY OF NIGERIAN ARTISTS, OTHERS, ROLL OUT THE DRUMS AS KOLADE OSHINOWO CLOCKS 70


February to April 2018, has been set aside to celebrate Kolade
Oshinowo (NPOM): The master, artist, teacher and administrator at 70.

Oshinowo retired as a Chief Lecturer at Yaba College of Technology ten years ago, but has over the years been a consistent feature in art circles, exhibiting and encouraging younger artists everywhere he goes.

His contributions to the development of the visual arts in general and more specifically the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) is Legion. For these and so many other reasons, the general artist community decided to come together and celebrate one of their own.

Events lined up to celebrate this Icon include a 3 day workshop
organised by Prof Peju Layiwola at the Women and Youth Art Foundation in Surulere Lagos. The workshop will open on the 5th of February 2018 from 10am to 7th of February 2018 starting from 2pm.

This will be followed on Thursday 8th February by 'Kolade Oshinowo:Life before the Artists,' which will be organised by Olu Ajayi, a former Chairman of SNA Lagos state. This programme will hold at the Arts Complex, Yaba College of Technology from 10am. The following day 9th of February shall be Art stampede in honour of Osinowo featuring Toyin Akinoso and Jahman Anikulapo of the committee for relevant art complex Yaba College of Technoloy from 4pm. February 10, 2018 Oshinowo shall be exhibiting his works at a retrospective exhibition to celebrate his 70th anniversary at Mydrim Gallery, Ikoyi from 4pm.

The Society of Nigerian Artist will also celebrate him during the SNA week while an exhibition tagged Living Legend will be held in
February. There will be an International conference in April along
with a gala evening where he shall be honoured with a lifetime award.
 
FADAN will also be there, to showcase the beauty of Nigerian Fashion at these events.
