IKOYI CLUB 1938 Celebrates 79th anniversary this week

Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Audu Ogbeh has been scheduled to deliver a lecture titled, Nigeria’s economic diversification: The role of Agriculture for sustainable wealth creation, on Thursday 28 September, 2017.
This will be part of a week-long activities lined up to celebrate the premier club’s 79th anniversary.

According to the club’s Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Akinleye, the lecture will be part of the club’s commitment to championing the Federal government’s diversification goals, thereby creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the country, and will have the Chairman of Dangote group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote delivering a keynote speech, while the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode will be the host for the day.
Akinleye who spoke at a press briefing to announce the official opening of the club’s celebrations in Lagos, disclosed that the major part of the celebration would be the networking that will be achieved within the club’s members and their friends.
Aliko Dangote
While different sporting activities are presently being held in different sections of the club, the winning teams will all be honoured at a gala night on Saturday: An event that will also welcome the crème de la crème of the Nigerian society and their foreign friends.
Other activities will be a charity visit by members of the club to Ikoyi maximum prison as part of its corporate social responsibility to give back to the society.
According to him, the anniversary is a testimony to the ideals of those who founded the club and put the structures in place. “It is these that we have built upon by equally contributing to the society in our various ways, such as charity visits, anniversary lecture, and also in proffering solutions to issues in our society.
The 79th anniversary celebration will end on Sunday October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day. On that day, the Club will host a family funfair with bazaar.
