The market women body of Nigeria led by the head of the
market women popularly known as the Iyaloja General, Chief Folasade Tinubu-Ojo,
daughter of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, led a group of women to the APC National
Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, to protest the short-changing of market women
by the present APC government.
The women claim as part of the reason for their protest
being that, the Buhari government has side-lined women party members who fought,
supported ad voted for the present government.
The market women were particularly angry that the First Lady
is said to have floated a parallel women association in Abuja market. A move,
which the women protested, is targeted to undermine the existing body and
furthermore widen the gap between the erstwhile party supporters and the
present government.
The women called on President Muhammadu Buhari to look into
the plight of women because they voted for his government.
