Nollywood
diva and multi-talented actor Clarion Chukwurah returned to the country late
last year after a tour of some American states and bagging a major award.
Clarion who was also in America to shoot a documentary that will soon debut on
television screen, stumbled on the ‘political’ while he was there.
Guess
what, Clarion stumbled on a rich enclave in Houston Texas, where according to
her, is an exclusive estate where many officials in ex-President Goodluck
Jonathan’s government own palatial homes. She didn’t mince word about the
revelation.
“I
was bitter and angry when I found in Houston Texas, an exclusive estate for the
super-rich, where members of the top echelon of government in Goodluck
Jonathan, have homes,” began the Nollywood diva.
“This is a place where only
the super-rich American movie stars live, super stars that made their money
through dint of hard work. While the Nigerian civil servants and government
appointees there are those who stole money from the Nigerian people, went to
buy multi million naira homes there, just because they want to rub shoulders
with mega foreign movie stars. They have impoverished the Nigerian masses
because they want to belong where they do not belong. There is nothing so much
out of this world about the Royal Oaks except that the Nigerians, who stole
money to go and buy homes there, want to show that they own homes in that
estate, and rub shoulders with movie stars. It’s a show off and sad.”
Clarion
went on to reveal that homes in that estate is in the range of five million
dollars. “And that’s what Nigerian political appointees and civil servants afford
because they were given opportunities to serve the people in government. Once
again it is sad.”
