Prince Wale Osiyemi Jr. in a strong worded letter to the station, lambasted the effrontery, of lack of recourse to him, to authorise the use of his work, before it was used, and negativity so, by the television station.

Dear Sir,
*Protest Against the Unauthorised Use of My Ojude Oba Festival Video and Unbalanced Coverage*
*NO EXPLOSION ROCKED OJUDE OBA*
I write to formally protest the unauthorised use of my video recording of the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival by your station and to register my utmost displeasure at the biased and unbalanced unprofessional coverage of the event as aired on AriseNews Television this Friday morning 13/6/25.
It is regrettable that without seeking my consent or offering any form of credit/acknowledgment or clearance, AriseNews chose to broadcast a video I personally recorded and own, in clear violation of media ethics, copyright norms, and respect for intellectual property. This act is not only unlawful but also an affront to my professional identity and personal rights as a community leader and a cultural stakeholder.
More troubling, however, is the slanted narrative your station chose to push. Instead of highlighting the resounding success, rich cultural display, and peaceful conduct of the festival even with millions in attendance, your report chose to harp on an isolated incident that, while unfortunate, is being thoroughly investigated by the Ojude Oba Festival Planning Committee chaired by Baba Okuboyejo and coordinated by Prof Fassy Yusuf with clear steps being taken to forestall any recurrence. There was NO EXPLOSION at Ojude Oba 2025 but for a fireworks ignition. This was a cultural event. In Yorubaland; it involves drums, obas, otunbas, regberegbe, dance, warrior horses and dane guns with plenty of Ijebu fashion, pride & Steez.
It’s called Royalty Expressed.
Your failure to capture the full picture of an event that draws national and international appraise & attention - one that unites ALL Ijebus and Nigerians across all walks of life and the globe - smacks of intentional misrepresentation. Such report sensationalism is not only misleading but also deeply disrespectful to the traditional institution, the festival organisers, and indeed, the entire Ijebu people.
Let it be known that I, Prince Wale Osiyemi Jr, PWOJ, did not authorise the use of my footage for this or any other misleading portrayal of our proud heritage which I am part of. I therefore demand the following:
1. A formal apology from AriseNews Television for the unauthorised use of my content and for the unbalanced, damaging misrepresentation of the festival; there was NEVER any explosion at Ojude Oba but for a fireworks ignition.
2. An immediate retraction or clarification to correct the misleading narrative and properly reflect the spirit and success of the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival;
3. A public commitment to stricter ethical practices regarding sourcing and reporting, especially in matters involving cultural events and traditional institutions.
Should AriseNews fail to respond positively to this protest within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter, I shall be left with no option but to explore legal and public redress avenues to protect my rights and ensure due respect for our cultural heritage.
I trust that your organisation will do the needful in the interest of fairness, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.
