Business bridge, an activation created in partnership with the African Union (AU) towards the implementation of AU agenda 2063 was launched via zoom few days ago in Lagos with participation of people from different parts of the world.
Business bridge was created to build Africa’s SMEs
using funds provided by investors in diaspora. The investors make a great
return on their investments without having to leave the comfort of their abode.
The highlight of the launch was the kickoff of business bridge premier
investments and the e-meeting of the fishermen with their partner (the investor)
in Diaspora.
But also more importantly was the echo of Motherlan
Beckons a programme that encourages Africans in the Diaspora to return to their
African roots to re-learn and imbibe the African culture.
During the Business bridge zoom programme, the Founder
of Motherlan Beckons, Ambassador Otunba Olanwanle Akinboboye seized the opportunity
to repeat the Motherlan Beckon clarion call to Africans in the Diaspora.
Akinboboye said that the Motherlan Beckons call is to
make sure that the call is sounded across the world for Africans to return to
Africa not just for spiritual connections but also to help the continent to
grow to help heal the land. Akinboboye went on to insist that the Motherlan
Beckons call should not just be a call, but should be a concerted effort among
Africans in Africa and Africans in diaspora.
He went on to site the fact that in 1835, Lord Macaulay
addressed the parliament in England and told them that they need to remove the
culture of Africans from Africans if they must conquer them. Akinboboye said
that it is such concerted effort that the Africans need at this time, to bring
Africa’s glory back.
Akinboboye who owns the world’s first African theme beach
resort, La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Lekki, Lagos, also called on
Africans at home and in diaspora to embrace the Business Bridge and create a link
with each other through creation of different businesses, because it will bring
endless opportunities.
Other speakers on the zoom programme also spoke and
supported the view that there is no way Africa can prosper when Africans stay
away from Africa. Success lies in Africans coming together to build Africa. In
the words of Akinboboye, “what Africans should do is to come together, roll our
sleeves and enter the bushes of Africa and develop it by ourselves before other
people come in and do it for us, because, by then, if they do it for us, they
will enslave us in our own continent. So it is better for Africans abroad to
return home now to help develop Africa because they have seen the world already
and they understand world politics and how global politics works.
