There is a wide divide between ambition and over-ambition. Ambition pumps our adrenaline to function at our best and makes us want to be the best.
Ambition is expected of every forward looking human being who has purpose and wants to fulfil destiny.
On the other hand, when a person devalues others in a bid to attain a higher level than theirs, then, that is over-ambition and it actually kills purpose.
In a workplace, no boss would want an over-ambitious person as a protege. Most organizations won't promote an overtly ambitious person as it usually spells doom in the future.
Over-ambition signifies lack of respect for those who are colleagues. It also signifies a ruthlessness steep in arrogance and ignorance.
Also, Over-ambition lacks respect for process and procedure.
Check that ambition of yours if it has not crossed into the space of over-ambition.
Over-ambition may not get you to your career destination but the right type of ambition will.
